Cherie Blair’s just nuts about DCI Hunt’s pas de deux
When Cherie Blair took her daughter to the ballet she hardly expected to see DCI Gene Hunt execute an almost perfect pirouette.
But the wife of the former prime minister and her daughter Kathryn, 22, a law student, were treated to a rather special show before the English National Ballet’s Christmas production of The Nutcracker at the London Coliseum.
At a party before the performance Philip Glenister, who played the misogynistic and politically incorrect detective in the BBC 1970s time travel crime series Life On Mars, was reunited with his co-star Keeley Hawes.
Before long Glenister, 48, swept Hawes, who played Detective Inspector Alex Drake, off in front of the company to demonstrate their own ballet skills with an impromptu pas de deux.
Their on-screen chemistry was evidently still intact as 35-year-old Hawes burst into fits of laughter.
Cherie also looked in high spirits, mingling with guests and dancers at the St Martin’s Lane Hotel party on Wednesday.
Other stars to watch Tchaikovsky’s ballet, which opened last night, included Jerry Hall and Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole.
